World Hunger Strike

Education, Awareness, Change

This image shocked the world - a vulture stalking a starving child. Photographer Kevin Carter won a Pulitzer Prize for this photo. Three months later he committed suicide.

"The Cause"

This December world leaders will gather in Copenhagen to come up with a global response to climate change. (Downloadable forms)

The WORLD HUNGER STRIKE is a voice of all global citizens being raised for global leaders to hear. We as citizens of the world acknowledge the time is now that our global leaders MUST sign a deal that will reduce global emissions — climate changing hothouse gases — that are contributing to the increase in death by starvation worldwide of our Brothers and Sisters.

From October 18th up to and including the Copenhagen Conference of the 7th to the 18th of December, the Greenhouse Neutral Foundation calls for volunteers to register and participate in a rolling global HUNGER STRIKE.  Participation in the World Hunger Strike may be done for 1, 3, or 5 day commitments. Commitments running for 3 or 5 days are consecutive. Commitments start at 12:01 a.m. and end at midnight.

On average there is a death from hunger around the world every 3 seconds of every day. During the course of the World Hunger Strike campaign there will have been 1,756,800 people around the world that will have died of hunger.

Every hour 1,200 people die of hunger.

Every day 28,800 people die of hunger.

Every year 10,512,000 people die of hunger.

You may register and participate as often as you feel you are able to do so.

The money you raise during the time you commit to the Greenhouse Neutral Foundation Copenhagen Climate Change World Hunger Strike will be disbursed to not-for-profit organizations working to provide food and medical assistance for the starving people of the world.

Please note: Should you at any time feel the need to discontinue participation in your commitment, the Foundation urges you to do so. You have made a difference for any length of time that you have given of yourself to the World Hunger Strike.

If you are interested in participating, please continue to the World Hunger Strike (#WHS) registration process information page.
